Apothecary Jar Craft

All over the wonderful world of Pinterest there are these dang cute Apothecary Jars.  I've always loved jars and so these were instantly put on my to-do list.

Here are a few of my favorites that I've seen:

I have this kind of goal to pin things that I actually could maybe get done at some point and so as I was getting ready for the fall decorating I decided to do these.

My project started with a trip to the DI (local thrift store) where I found my supplies.

these candle sticks I found at the DI.  They are nice and heavy and were only $1.00 each.

These are the tops of the jars.

These are the bottoms of the tops of the jars.  I taped off the parts that go into the jar because since I planned to put candy/treats in them I didn't want paint being by the food.

Here are my supplies.  The E6000 clear is the way to go, especially when dealing with glass (trust me, I tried a few different things and ended up peeling/scrubbing/scraping it off - not fun)

So what I did (without taking pictures....oops) was painted the candle sticks and jar tops with a few coats of krylon flat black paint and then sprayed a clear coat over the top to make them a little more durable.

Then I placed the jars on top of the candle sticks so I knew right where to put the E6000 and then started gluing the jars down.  I let them sit for quite a few hours and then I filled them up with yummies!!!

I am so excited with how they turned out that I got stuff to do even more!!

Total cost:

Candle sticks - $3

Jars - some I had others I got at the DI for $.50- $1.00

E6000 - already had

Paint - already had

5 jars = $5.50
